Where can you get married in the Lake District?
In the Lake District there are nine registery offices to get married in; Barrow, Carlisle, Penrith, Cockermouth, Kendal, Millom, Ulveston, Whitehaven and Wigton. These towns all have unique characterisitcs with many fantastic wedding reception venues near by. There are also a large number of hotels, country houses, statley homes, historic buildings and castles which you can hold your wedding ceremony, many of these are set in amazing locations perfect for your wedding photos and your guests to have a wander around with a glass of champagne taking in what a perfect place Cumbria is to have a wedding.
If you would like to have your Lake District wedding in one of the amazing venues you must provisionally book with the wedding venue of your choice and check with the registary office to make sure someone will be available to marry you! Many of the hotels will have wedding co-ordinators who will be able to help with this and will also discuss your requirements for you big day. An approved list of wedding venues is available on the Cumbria County Councils website.
If you are planning on getting married in a church, you will only be able to do so if you or a member of your family live in the parish or worship there. This normally means that you are already living in Cumbria and appreciate how amazing it is for you to be married in your local church.
